Differences between business address and provozovna

A business address (regitered office) is not the same as an “provozovna” (establishment). Every entrepreneur must have a registered office by law, but not an establishment. A registered office is one of the conditions for starting a business. Without it, you simply cannot do business. If you do not have a registered office, the state authorities will not register you in the trade or business register. An entrepreneur has only one registered office, however, he can have several establishments.

An establishment is, according to the law, a place in which a business is conducted. It is usually located in a house, office or other business premises. However, the law also considers an establishment to be a vending machine (e.g. a coffee or food vending machine) or a mobile establishment, which is located in one place for a maximum of 3 months. An example of a mobile establishment may be a stall selling products using a car, bus, or trailer that is set up as a mobile store.

Both the registered office and the establishment must be permanently and visibly marked on the outside with the business name or business name and its personal identification number (IČO – identifikační číslo osoby).
